About the film

What happens when the apps meant to connect us start hurting our kids? Can’t Look Away is a new documentary that looks at how social media is affecting young people’s mental health. It follows families who have experienced tragic loss and the legal fight to hold tech companies accountable. Directed by Matthew O’Neill and Perri Peltz, the film serves as a reminder that we need to act now to protect the next generation.

This event is part of Looking Up, a new community event series from the Evelyn Lilly Lutz Foundation focused on supporting teen mental health and well-being in the digital age. Each event brings together families, educators, mental health professionals, and youth to explore the challenges and solutions surrounding the overuse of social media and screen time among youth.
